  • How much does it cost to build a Tiny House?

You may have seen a few television programs where Tiny Home costs in the United States seem very cheap. In Canada, its still a very affordable, but the conversion from USD to CAD is a bit more.

The cost of a tiny house can vary significantly, but our builds start at $75k CAD. The overall cost depends on the specific features and customization you choose for the house. If you opt to have a builder construct your tiny home, they will typically charge labor costs, potentially increasing the total expenses, especially if you incorporate extensive craftsmanship or custom projects into the interior design. Additionally, the geographical location of the builder’s base is often an overlooked factor. Builders in different regions, such as British Columbia and Ontario, have varying pricing structures due to differences in the cost of living in those areas.

At Kleena Homes, we have experience with both approaches. For instance, in the case of Floor Plan #1 our first tiny home, the majority of the work was completed by the builder.

Ultimately, choosing to use recycled materials and undertaking DIY projects can significantly reduce costs during the construction of your tiny house. Additionally, opting for a pre-built tiny house shell on a trailer or a DIY kit and handling the interior work yourself can be a cost-effective strategy.

  • What are utilities bills like in a Tiny Home?

This would depend on the entire sq footage, but as far as we know with the interior insulation, MB Hydro per month would be approx. $30.00/MTH. Costs will vary if you are on grid, off grid, running solar or utilizing wind. Of course if you are self sufficient and off grid, upfront costs may be high, but over time well worth the investment. Other variables like water etc. still need to be calculated.
